Geshe Lharampa Jampa Wangchuk

Geshe Lharampa Jampa Wangchuk Geshe Lharampa Jampa Wangchuk was born April 15th, 1972 in Lhasa, Tibet. He was admitted to Gaden Shartse Monastery in Tibet at the age of 8 and in 1980 begin his Buddhist studies and the memorization of the 5 major texts. He fled India in 1986, passing over the Himalayas, to join Gaden Shartse Monastic University in South India.

 

Geshela studied the 5 Major Texts of Buddhist Philosophy and achieved the Degree of Pramanavartika (the Science of Buddhist Logic) in the year 1990. He received his Gelong Ordination (the 253 Precepts of a fully Ordained Monk) in 1992 from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1992. The Pranjaparamita Degree ( the Perfection of Wisdom) was achieved in 1995. This was followed by the Madyamika Degree ( the Buddhist Middle Way View of Emptiness) in 1998. In the year 2000 his studies on Abidharmakosha (Cosmology and Metaphysics) finished and the Degree bestowed upon him. The year 2000 saw the completion of his studies on Vinaya( Monastic Discipline and Monks Precepts ). His Gelukpa Geshe Examinations, Oral, Written, Public and Private, were given over a period of 4 years and in 2006 was awarded the Geshe Lharampa Degree( Highest Doctorate of Buddhist Philosophy).   ). 2007 saw the completion of his Tantric Studies at Gyuto Tantric University, where he studied Buddhist Tantra and Architectural Construction of Buddhist Sand Mandalas, and given his Degree In Buddhist Tantra.
Numerous Empowerments, teachings and direct oral transmissions were given to Geshela by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche and other Lamas of the highest order.

 

Geshela directed the Gashar Education Project for 2 years and presently teaches Buddhist Tantra to many students.
The University of California Irvine ( UCIrvine ) invited Geshela to attend the Scholar Exchange Program In 2014. Geshe taught Buddhist Philosophy and studied English.
Khen Rinpoche Jangchub Sangye (Abbot) appointed Geshe Jampa Wangchuk to be the Primary Teacher of the 2020 Tour to the USA. Geshela is responsible for giving the Lectures, Trantric Empowerments, and Rituals for the entire 2 year tour.

Dorjee Tsering

Dorjee Tsering Dorjee Tsering was born October 7th 1986 in Bomdila, Arunchal Pradesh, India. He enrolled in Gaden Shartse Monastic University in 1994 at the age of 10 and began his basic monastic studies. Focusing on memorization on the 5 Major texts, studying the 5 Types of Tibetan Calligraphy, Tibetan History and Grammar.


Gradually, he began the intensive study of the 5 major texts and so far has received his Degrees in; Pramanavartika (Buddhist Logic), Pranjaparamita (the Perfection of Wisdom), Madyamika (Buddhist Middle Way of the View of Emptiness), Abidharmakosha (Cosmology and Metaphysics) and is presently studying Vinaya ( Monastic Discipline and Precepts of Monks)


He has had the opportunity to receive Teachings, Tantric Empowerments and Oral Transmissions from such Personages as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and numerous Root Gurus such as Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche, Kyabje Khensur Jamoa Yeshe Rinpoche and many Renowned Masters.


He has been Director of Gaden Lachi the Primary Temple where the 2 Colleges of Shartse and Jangtse meet 3 times a week. He was Director of the Buddhist Monastery in Varnarsi and spent several years at Shartse Khangtsar (our branch Monastery) in Dharamsala) engaged in rituals of requests at the Temple located there. In 2017 he was in invited to the Cultural Exchange Program at Norman Cultural Connection In Norman Oklahoma.


The Abbot, Khenpo Jangchub Sangye has appointed him Sand Mandala Master for the 2020 USA Gaden Shartse Tour.

Tenzin Tharpa

Tenzin Tharpa Venerable Tenzin Tharpa was born on June 5th, 1988, in Chhichong, Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, India. As a young child he entered Ki Monastery in Spiti and at the age of 10 joined Gaden Shartse Monastic University in Mundgod, South India. He began his studies of Tibetan Grammar, the 5 types of Calligraphy, Memorization of the 5 Major texts and Tibetan History in 1998.


At the age of 16 he earnestly began the study of the 5 Major Texts. He received Degrees in Pramanavartika (Buddhist Logic) 2007, Pranjaparamita (the Perfection of Wisdom) 2011, Madyamika ( Emptiness according to the Middle View) 2014, Abidharmakosha (Cosmology and Metaphysics) 2016. Presently he is studying Vinaya (Monastic Discipline and the Precepts of Fully Ordained Monks). He received Full Ordination (Gelong) from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the year 2019.


He has received numerous Teachings, Tantric Empowerments, and Oral Transmissions from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche, Kyabje Khensur Jampa Yeshe Rinpoche and numerous renowned Masters.


His skills include the recitation of Ritual Texts, the Making of Ritual Cakes, Butter Sculpture, Construction of Sand Mandalas and Playing of Ritual Musical Instruments, Gyaling, Dung Chen and Cymbals. He was appointed by the Abbot Khensur Jangchub Sangye to visit and assist at the Buddhist Centers in Singapore and Myanmar.


His skill at the recitation of Texts and their Melodies was the cause for the Abbot, Khenpo Jangchub Sangye to appoint him Chanting Master on the 2020 Tour.
Through the Kindness of Gaden Shartse Thubten Dhargye Ling whose invitation made this tour possible, we are able to visit the USA.

Tenzin Lekshey

Venerable Tenzin Lekshey was born on June 9th, 1987 in Kolligol, Karnataka, South India. His Primary Schooling at CST Kolligal and Secondary Schooling at SSBBHS in Kathmandu, Nepal. These 2 schools gave him the opportunity to become fluent in English Language. At 16 years of age, he entered Gaden Shartse Monastic University to begin his Buddhist Studies.


He entered the Program of the 5 Major Texts, accomplishing Degrees in Pramanavartika (Buddhist Logic)2005, Pranjaparamita (the Perfection of Wisdom) 2010, Madyamika ( Buddhist View of Emptiness)2013, Abidharmakosha (Cosmology and Metaphysics) 2015 and Vinaya (Monastic Discipline and Monks Precepts) 2017.


He received his Certificate of English Translation from a program in Dharamsala, India. His skills at English Language kept him very busy doing Translations, Teaching, Accounting, and Secretariat work allowing Gaden Shartse to be connected world wide to numerous Buddhist Centers and Publications.


He has the good fortune to receive Teachings, Empowerments and Oral Transmissions from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche, Kyabje Khensur Jampa Yeshe Rinpoche and other Masters.

Geshe Jampa Lobsang

Geshe Jampa Lobsang  was born in Nangwang Tibet on March 22nd in 1974. At the age of 13 he joined Kham Nangsang Monastery and received Novice Vows (Getsul) from H. E. Lobsang Kalden Gyatso Rinpoche, the Abbot of Nangsang Monastery in 1987. The following period, he completed the memorization of major texts, making of Tormas (ritual cakes) and the construction of Sand Mandalas. He fled to India in 1993 and joined Gaden Shartse Monastic University.


Beginning in the early “90’s” he began to traverse the 5 Major texts; the Degrees of Pramanavartika (Buddhist Logic) 1996, Pranjaparamita ( the Perfection of Wisdom) 2001, His Full Ordination (Gelong Vows) were received from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2002, Madyamika (Correct View of Emptiness according to the Middle Way)2004, Abidharmakosha (Cosmology and Metaphysics) 2006, Vinaya ( Monastic Discipline and Precepts)2008. His Geshe Degree was received in 2016.


The Abbot ordered him to Shartse Khangtsar in Dharamsala for 2 years of requested ritual activities. He has received numerous teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, H. E. Lati Rinpoche, H.E. Khensur Jampa Yeshe, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche and other Great Scholars of Tibetan Buddhism.


Geshela is skilled in and teaches Recitation of Texts, Ritual Cake Making, Butter Sculpture, Construction of Sand Mandalas, Ritual Instruments; Gyaling(Oboe), Dung Chen( Long Horn) Cymbals and Ritual Dance.
Geshe was a member of the 2013 Tour to the USA. This tour he is the appointed Ritual Master By the Abbot, Khenpo Jangchub Sangye.
The 2020 Tour is present in the USA due to the kindness of Gaden Shartse Thubten Dhargye Ling of Long Beach, Ca.

Lobsang Wangchuk  Due to prophetic dreams, Lobsang Wangchuk had the good fortune to come into contact with Kyabje Zong Rinpoche in the Late “70’s”. He became His student and followed Him into His present Life,  Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche. Lobsang was an ordained Monk 23 years and has accompanied tours for nearly 30 years. He has numerous duties; planning the tour, helping translate, primary board member Of Gaden Shartse Cultural Foundation, hosting the tour in conjunction with GSTDL, banking, maintaining the van and trailer, shopping and laundry,etc. in his own words, “I am in the company of virtuous friends”.
