Venerable Geshe Lharampa Jampa Chodak

is the Ritual Master of the 2023 Gaden Shartse Sacred Arts of Tibet Tour.

He was born May 13, 1980, in Mundgod, Karnataka State, India. He joined the Gaden Shartse Monastery in 1993, at the age of 13, and studied Basic Tibetan and Buddhist studies.

Geshe Chodak  has studied the five major texts of Buddhist Philosophy. He achieved the degree of Pramana Vidya (Buddhist logic science) in 1997, Prajnaparamita (the Perfection of Wisdom) in 2002, Madyamika (Buddhist Middle Way Philosophy) in 2005, Abhidharma (Cosmology and Metaphysics) in 2007, and Vinaya (Buddhist Ethics and Monastic Rules) in 2009.  Geshe Chodak  then achieved the degree of Karam (Bachelor of Buddhist Philosophy) in 2011, Lopon (Master in Buddhist Philosophy) in 2013, and finally, his Geshe Lharam degree (Doctorate in Buddhist Philosophy) in 2017. He continued his studies at Gyuto Tantric Monastery for teaching and practice of the secret Vajrayana tradition in 2018.

 

He received Gelong Dompa (full ordination vows from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2010. Geshe Chodak  has also received many initiations, empowerments and oral transmissions from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many root gurus of the monastery, including Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche, etc.

 

 

Venerable Legden Gompo

is the Sand Mandala Master of the 2023 Sacred Arts of Tibet Tour.

 

He was born June 3, 1971 in Orissa, Odisha State, India. He joined the Gaden Shartse Monastery in 1983 at age 12, and studied basic Tibetan and Buddhist studies.

 

Venerable Legden Gompo has studied the five major texts of Buddhist Philosophy. He achieved the degree of Pramana Vidya (Buddhist logic science) in 1997, Prajnaparamita (the Perfection of Wisdom) in 2002, Madyamika (Buddhist Middle Way Philosophy) in 2005, Abhidharma (Cosmology and Metaphysics) in 2007, and Vinaya (Buddhist Ethics and Monastic Rules) in 2009.He received Gelong Dompa (full ordination vows from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2016.

Venerable Legden Gompo has also received many initiations, empowerments and oral transmissions from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many root gurus of the monastery, including Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche, etc. He has been to Singapore at the Gaden Shartse branch monastery (Gaden Shartse Drophen Ling Center).

 

 

Venerable Sonam Tsering

is the Chanting Master of the 2023 Gaden Shartse Sacred Arts of Tibet Tour.

 

He was born July 17, 1981 in Mundgod, Karnataka State, India. He joined Gaden Shartse Monastery in 1995 at the age of 14, and studied basic Tibetan and Buddhist studies. Venerable Sonam Tsering has studied the five major texts of Buddhist Philosophy. He achieved the degree of Pramana Vidya (Buddhist logic science) in 2001, Prajnaparamita (the Perfection of Wisdom) in 2006, Madyamika (Buddhist Middle Way Philosophy) in 2009, Abhidharma (Cosmology and Metaphysics) in 2011, and Vinaya (Buddhist Ethics and Monastic Rules) in 2013.

 

He received Gelong Dompa (full ordination vows) from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2001. Venerable Sonam Tsering has also received many initiations, empowerments and oral transmissions from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many root gurus of the monastery, including Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche, etc.  In 2008 Venerable Sonam Tsering went to Singapore and in 2011 was in Malaysia serving at the Gaden Shartse branch monasteries.

 

 

Venerable Geshe Tenzin Lekshey 

is the Translator for the 2023 Gaden Shartse Sacred Arts of Tibet Tour.

 

He was born on June 9, 1987 in Kolligol, Karnataka, South India. His Primary schooling in Kolligol and Secondary schooling in Kathmandu, Nepal gave him the

opportunity to become fluent in English. He joined Gaden Shartse Monastery when he was 18 years old to begin his Buddhist studies.

 

Geshe Lekshey has studied the five major texts of Buddhist Philosophy. He achieved the degree of Pramana Vidya (Buddhist logic science) in 2005, Prajnaparamita (the Perfection of Wisdom) in 2010, Madyamika (Buddhist Middle Way Philosophy) in 2013, Abhidharma (Cosmology and Metaphysics) in 2015, and Vinaya (Buddhist Ethics and Monastic Rules) in 2017.

 

He received his Certificate of English Translation from a program in Dharamsala,India. His skills at English Language kept him very busy doing translations, teaching, accounting, and secretarial work allowing Gaden Shartse to be connected worldwide to numerous Buddhist Centers and Publications Geshe Lekshey has also received many initiations, empowerments and oral transmissions from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many root gurus of the

monastery, including Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche,

Kyabje Jampa Yeshe Rinpoche, etc.

 

Kunchok Tenzin

is the Torma (butter sculpture) Master for the 2023 Garden Shartse Sacred Arts of Tibet Tour.

 

He was born on March 3, 1993, in Nyalam Top, Tibet. He fled to India in 1998. He joined Gaden Shartse Monastery when he was 5 years old, and studied basic Tibetan and Buddhist studies.

Venerable Kunchok Tenzin has studied the five major texts of Buddhist Philosophy. He achieved the degree of Pramana Vidya (Buddhist logic science) in 2016 andPrajnaparamita (the Perfection of Wisdom) in 2021. He is presently studying Madyamika (Buddhist Middle Way Philosophy). He received Novice ordination vows from Kyabje Lati Rinpoche in the year 2000. Venerable Kunchok Tenzin has received many initiations, empowerments and oral transmissions from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many root gurus of the monastery, including Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, Kyabje Zong Choktrul Rinpoche, Khabje Khensur Jampa Yeshi Rinpoche, etc.

 

His skills include making ritual butter sculpture, chanting, and construction of sand mandalas

 

Lobsang Wangchuk

is a former monk at Gaden Shartse for over 20 years. Because of prophetic dreams, he met Kyanje Zong Rinpoche 45 years ago and became his student. He has accompanied numerous tours to the West since 1989 and is tour coordinator, ramrod, and roadie.
