A documentary featuring His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Harrison Ford. 6pm at the Himalayan Kitchen, 992 Main Avenue, Durango.


Sunday, July 10: Fundraiser, Movie: What Remains of Us.

Secretly filmed, this documentary details the views of ordinary Tibetans regarding Chinese aggression, nonviolent protest and the future of their country. 6pm, Himalayan Kitchen.


Monday, July 10: Monks Talk, “Death, Bardo, and Rebirth

5:30pm, Durango Dharma Center, 1800 East Third Avenue. Suggested Donation: $10-$20


Tuesday, July 11: Mandala Opening Ceremony,

11am, Sorrel Sky Gallery, 828 Main Avenue, Durango. Welcome the monks as they begin construction of a sand mandala dedicated to the Buddha of Wisdom—a five day process.


Tuesday, July 11: Tibetan style Debate on Peace and Compassion.

7pm, Himalayan Kitchen. Suggested Donation: $10-$20


Wednesday, July 12 – Saturday, July 15: Construction of a sand mandala

(a 75-125 hour process) 10am - 5:30pm, Sorrel Sky Gallery.

Thursday, July 13: Ritual Chanting,

6:30pm, Yoga Durango, 1485 Florida Road, Bldg. C #201 (upstairs). Suggested Donation: $10-$20


Friday, July 14: Monks Talk, Climate Change and the Six Delusions,

7pm, Himalayan Kitchen. Suggested Donation: $10-$20


Saturday, July 15: Sand Mandala Closing Ceremony,

4pm, Sorrel Sky Gallery. The monks will carry the mandala to the river and offer their creation to the flowing waters—signifying life’s impermanence. Attendees receive a small portion of sand as a remembrance.


Saturday, July 15: World Peace and Unity of Religions.

The monks join local religious leaders for a discussion, 7pm, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 910 East Third Avenue, Durango.
